Websites for South African B2B and service businesses: fast on a phone, clear about what you do, and built to turn visits into calls and quote requests.
the problem
Most South Africans browse on a phone, and data isn’t free. A site that takes ages to load, buries the phone number and asks for eleven fields before you can say hello loses people quietly. They don’t complain. They just go back to Google and click the next result.
what I do about it
I design and build sites that load fast on a phone, say what you do in the first line, show proof near every button, and make it easy to call, WhatsApp, book or request a quote. SEO foundations and tracking go in from day one.
pick one, or connect them all
Custom design and build, booking or inquiry forms, speed and SEO foundations, and tracking from launch. Fixed scope, typically 3–6 weeks.
Prefer WordPress so your team can edit it? I build those too, kept lean and fast. See WordPress website design.
Once the site works, get it found by buyers already searching. See SEO in South Africa.
only true in South Africa
Every image and script has a cost for the person loading it. I build pages that stay light, so a buyer on a weak signal still sees your offer before they give up.
If your site collects names, emails or phone numbers, you need a privacy notice and a clear reason for asking. I build that in, and I’d still want your legal advice on the wording.
I’m in Cape Town and work with businesses across the country on video calls. Joburg, Durban, Pretoria and Gqeberha get the same service.
One person designs and builds it: me. Where a project needs more hands, I bring in a specialist developer or copywriter, and you still deal with me.
Prices across the country vary enormously, from template sites to large custom builds. Where you land depends on what the site has to do. With me it’s always a fixed fee, scoped to your business, and you get the number before anything starts. I’ve written a fuller guide to how much a website costs in South Africa.
What moves the price:
On “affordable”: the cheapest site is the one that pays for itself. A cheap site that never brings in an inquiry costs more than a better one that brings in two a month. That’s not a sales line. It’s just arithmetic.
A small service business rarely needs a big website. It needs one that does a few things very well:
Rule of thumb: build the pages your buyers will actually visit. An “Our Philosophy” page has never booked anyone a job.
| Template builder | WordPress | Modern custom build | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Speed on a phone | Often slow | Depends on how it’s built | Fast by default |
| Editing it yourself | Easy | Easy | Usually done by your developer |
| Upkeep | Low | Plugin and security updates | Very little |
| Good when | You’re just starting out | Your team edits the site often | Speed and leads matter most |
I build both WordPress and modern custom sites, and I’ll recommend one on the call based on who needs to edit the site and how often. More on that in WordPress website design.
Typically 3–6 weeks. The slowest part is nearly always content approval. (Every business owner believes their About page will take ten minutes. It never has.)
Then look at their own website. If it’s slow, vague or hard to contact them through, that’s the site you’ll get.
Want to know which of this your site actually needs? Book 30 minutes and I’ll tell you what I’d fix first.

It varies widely, from template sites to large custom builds. Mine is a fixed fee scoped to your business, and you get the price before any work starts.
I offer sites built to pay for themselves, at a fixed price you know upfront. If you need the cheapest template possible, I’ll tell you honestly that someone else is a better fit.
Yes. I work with businesses across South Africa on video calls, and most of my clients are in the US.
Typically 3–6 weeks, depending on size and how quickly content gets approved.
Yes, when your team needs to edit the site often. Otherwise I usually recommend a modern custom build, which is faster and needs less upkeep.
I build in a privacy notice and clear consent on forms. POPIA compliance covers more than the website, so I’d still want your legal advice on the wording.
your move
No pitch. No pressure. I’ll look at your site on a phone, the way your buyers do, and tell you what I’d fix first, whether or not we end up working together.
